How do I create my own Craft Attack server?
You need a Minecraft Java server with a whitelist, a group and a few rules. At RespawnHost the server is usually ready in under 90 seconds, and setting it up takes about half an hour. The official Craft Attack server is invitation only. Recreating the format is easy though, and plenty of communities do it when a new season starts.
| Step | Time | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Create the server | 2 minutes | Pick RAM and location, enter the code CRAFTATTACK |
| 2. Choose the server type | 2 minutes | Vanilla like the original, or Paper for plugins |
3. Edit server.properties | 5 minutes | Whitelist on, spawn protection off, difficulty hard |
| 4. Fill the whitelist | 5 minutes | Add every participant before the address goes out |
| 5. Voice chat and extras | 10 minutes | Simple Voice Chat, map, logging |
| 6. Build the spawn and test | 15 minutes and up | Prepare the shopping street, join once with everyone |
30 percent off with the code CRAFTATTACK
For the launch of Craft Attack 14 the code CRAFTATTACK gives you 30 percent off Minecraft servers. It applies to prepaid packages and to the first month of a subscription, not to pay-per-use. It does not stack with the term discount, the larger of the two applies. Since the term discount is at most 20 percent, the code pays off on every term. You can redeem it five times per account. Enter it at checkout or open this link and it is applied for you.
How much RAM does a Craft Attack server need?
It depends on the size of your group. The critical moment is launch day, when everyone is online at once and runs off in different directions. Later on the farms grow, and so does the load.
| Participants | Recommended plan | Price per month | With CRAFTATTACK |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 to 10 | 4 GB | €8.00 | €5.60 |
| 10 to 20 | 6 GB | €11.39 | €7.97 |
| 20 to 30 | 8 GB | €15.20 | €10.64 |
| 30 to 50 | 12 GB | €21.60 | €15.12 |
| 50 to 80 | 16 GB | €27.20 | €19.04 |
Prices as of 8 October 2026
These are monthly prices on the 30-day term. A CPU with 6 vCores, NVMe storage and unlimited player slots are included. If you only play in the evenings, pay-per-use can be cheaper, but the code does not apply there. Current pricing is on Minecraft Server Hosting.
More RAM stops helping at some point. Minecraft TPS depend mostly on the CPU, and above roughly 16 GB the Java garbage collector works less efficiently. Details are in How much RAM does a Minecraft server need?.
Step 1: Create the server
- Pick a package on Minecraft Server Hosting
- Choose a location: Frankfurt am Main for a group in Europe
- Select prepaid or subscription and enter the code CRAFTATTACK
- Complete the order. The server is set up automatically and then shows Offline
Don’t start it yet. Configure first, then let it generate the world, otherwise the world is created with the wrong settings.
Step 2: Vanilla or Paper?
According to craftattack.me the original runs pure vanilla, with no plugins and no claim system. If you want it exactly like that, keep the server on Vanilla. That suits groups who know and trust each other.
For larger or more open groups we recommend Paper. It still plays like vanilla, but you can use plugins such as CoreProtect, which links every broken block to a player and lets you roll it back. With 30 people who partly don’t know each other, that saves a lot of arguments. Paper also needs fewer resources than vanilla.
You set the server type in the panel. A comparison is in Minecraft server types compared.
Step 3: Edit server.properties
Open the file manager in the panel and edit server.properties:
white-list=true
enforce-whitelist=true
difficulty=hard
spawn-protection=0
pvp=true
max-players=60
view-distance=10
simulation-distance=8
motd=Our Craft Attack
spawn-protection=0 matters if you build at spawn together. Otherwise only operators can place blocks there. PvP stays technically on. Whether people fight is something you agree on, just like in the original.
Step 4: Fill the whitelist
Add every participant before you share the address. In the console:
whitelist add PlayerName
Anyone not on the whitelist can’t join, even if the address shows up in a stream.
Step 5: Voice chat and extras
Many projects use proximity voice chat, where you only hear players nearby. The best-known mod for it is Simple Voice Chat. At RespawnHost you don’t need to open a port, see Set up Simple Voice Chat.
On a Paper server these are also worth installing:
| Plugin | Purpose |
|---|---|
| CoreProtect | Logs every block and chest so griefing can be rolled back |
| BlueMap | 3D map in the browser, great for showing off bases |
| Chunky | Pre-generates the world so launch day doesn’t lag |
More suggestions are in The best Minecraft plugins.
Step 6: Build the spawn and test launch day
In Craft Attack the spawn is the centre. The shops are there and that is where people meet. Build it before launch, or make it your first community project.
Before launch day, let Chunky pre-generate a radius of about 3,000 blocks. Depending on the package that takes a few hours, but it saves resources exactly when everyone starts running. Then join once with as many people as possible and keep an eye on TPS.
Also take a backup before launch. In the panel that is one click under Backups, see Minecraft server backups.
Rules for your project
A project lives or dies by its rules. The principles from the original have proven themselves:
- Other people’s builds are off limits, except for agreed pranks
- No PvP without consent from both sides
- No cheats and no X-ray texture packs
- Shared resources such as farms at spawn are for everyone
Write the rules down somewhere everyone can find them, such as your Discord. And decide beforehand who settles disputes.

FAQ
Question: How do I create a Craft Attack server?
Rent a Minecraft server, enable the whitelist, turn off spawn protection and add every participant. At RespawnHost that takes about half an hour including setup.
Question: Is there a discount code for a Craft Attack server?
Yes. The code CRAFTATTACK gives you 30 percent off Minecraft servers at RespawnHost, for prepaid packages and the first month of a subscription. It does not apply to pay-per-use.
Question: How much does my own Craft Attack server cost?
For 20 to 30 players we recommend 8 GB of RAM. That costs €15.20 per month, or €10.64 with the code CRAFTATTACK (as of 8 October 2026).
Question: Do I need mods for Craft Attack?
No. The original runs vanilla. Only proximity voice chat requires every player to install the Simple Voice Chat mod.
Question: Can I play the Craft Attack map on my server?
Yes, once it is released. The Craft Attack 13 map is expected to be available for download at the end of 2026. Upload the world folder through the file manager and set it as level-name.
Question: Which Minecraft version should I use?
Use a version every participant can play. For a pure vanilla project the latest version is the simplest choice. If you use mods like Simple Voice Chat, check that they already support that version.
Your own Minecraft server?
At 3 hours a day that is about €1.50 a month. Billed by the second: server off, costs off.
- No subscription, no minimum term
- Balance does not expire while your account exists
- Online in under 90 seconds
