Game server backups: Create, restore, and download manual and automatic backups. First backup per month free, additional backups from €0.10/month.

Backups

Backups protect your server data against broken updates, mod conflicts, or accidental deletion. Every backup contains the complete server state: world, plugins, mods, and configuration.

Pricing

  • First backup per month free — for all packages, no conditions
  • Additional backups from €0.10/month — depending on package and storage size
  • No automatic deletion — backups stay as long as you keep them

Exact pricing is shown when you create a backup in the panel.

Create a Manual Backup

  1. Open the Backups tab on your server
  2. Click Create Backup
  3. The backup runs in the background — the server can keep running

The name is assigned automatically (timestamp). Depending on server size it takes seconds to minutes. Ideal before risky changes: modpack installs, version upgrades, config experiments.

Automatic Backups

Automatic backups are opt-in and disabled by default. To enable:

  1. Open the Backups tab
  2. Toggle Automatic Backups
  3. Pick an interval: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly
  4. Set the preferred time

Each run creates a new backup at the chosen interval. All follow the pricing model above.

Restore a Backup

  1. Open the Backups tab
  2. Pick the backup from the list
  3. Click Restore and confirm

Restoring overwrites the current server data. Create a new backup first if you want to keep the current state.

Download a Backup

Successfully finished backups can be downloaded as an archive. Ideal for:

  • Local offline copies
  • Transfer to another server or host
  • Versioning in external storage (S3, Backblaze)

Locked Backups

You can lock a backup to protect it from accidental deletion. Locked backups:

  • Cannot be deleted while the lock is active
  • Are ideal for important milestones (e.g. before a big event)
  • Can be unlocked again at any time in the panel

Notes

  • Backups include all server files: configuration, world data, mods/plugins
  • Before any panel-triggered template update or reinstall, you can have a backup created automatically
  • Backups at RespawnHost are unlimited in storage — as long as the pricing model fits

Inactivity Protection

If your server sits unused for 30 days, we automatically convert it into a free backup and end the billing runtime. You lose no data. You can restore the backup and keep playing at any time. See Pay-Per-Use for details.
