Can I transfer my co-op world to a dedicated server?

Yes — your locally hosted co-op world moves to the dedicated server with all progress intact. You copy the world folder from your PC to the server and rename it accordingly. One restriction: this only works with Steam saves — PS5, Xbox and Game Pass saves cannot be transferred.

Step by step: moving the world

1. Find the local save. Your co-op worlds live on your PC under:

%LocalAppData%\AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames\[SteamID]\Worlds\

There is one folder per world, named after your world.

2. Stop the server and upload the world folder via file manager or SFTP to:

[Server]\AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames\Server\Worlds\

3. Rename the folder. The server loads the world named by -WorldSaveName — default is “Cascade”. So rename your uploaded world folder to Cascade or set -WorldSaveName=YourWorldName in the startup variables (see the setup guide).

4. Start the server — the world loads with full progress.

Tip

If a world with the same name already exists on the server, create a backup in the panel first — otherwise the upload overwrites it.

Warning: Steam saves only

PS5, Xbox and Game Pass saves cannot be transferred to a dedicated server. Console players can play on the server — but their local worlds stay on the console.

Crossplay: who can join the server?

Since 1.0 “Cold Fusion”, crossplay works between Steam, PS5 and Xbox — dedicated servers included. Two things to control:

  • Server side: with -PlatformLimited=PC|Playstation|Xbox you restrict access to specific platforms. Without the parameter, all platforms may join.
  • Client side: players must have crossplay enabled in their game settings.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the saves live on the server? Under AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames\Server\Worlds\[WorldName]\ — one folder per world. The world’s SandboxSettings.ini lives there too.

Can I continue the server world locally later? The route works in reverse too: download the world folder from the server and place it in your local SaveGames\[SteamID]\Worlds\ folder.

Why doesn’t the server load my uploaded world? Most common cause: the folder name doesn’t match -WorldSaveName (default “Cascade”). Also check that you uploaded the world folder itself (not a parent folder).

Can console players bring their progress? No — PS5, Xbox and Game Pass saves are not transferable. On the server, console players start with the character progress they build there.
