Overview
KVM VPS servers with NVMe SSD, 10 Gbit/s uplink and full root access. Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux and more in Frankfurt.
KVM Virtual Private Server
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) gives you a full virtual machine with shared hardware resources. Unlike managed game servers, a VPS is a blank slate — you install and configure everything yourself.
KVM Virtualization
RespawnHost VPS servers use KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) technology. KVM provides true hardware virtualization, which means your server runs its own kernel and is fully isolated from other customers. This is different from container-based solutions where resources are shared at the OS level.
Benefits of KVM:
- Own kernel — Install any operating system and kernel version you need.
- Full isolation — Your VM is completely separated from other customers on the same host.
- Shared CPU, dedicated RAM/SSD — CPU cores are shared with other VMs (fair use), while your RAM and SSD allocation is exclusively yours.
What You Get
Every RespawnHost VPS includes:
- Root access via SSH
- Shared CPU cores — fair use on AMD Ryzen 9 9950X hardware
- Dedicated RAM and NVMe SSD — allocated exclusively to your server
- 10 TB monthly traffic on a 10 Gbit/s uplink
- noVNC console for browser-based access (useful when SSH is not reachable)
- Snapshot support for saving and restoring server states
- DDoS protection included at no extra cost (PletX)
Available Operating Systems
When creating your VPS, you can choose from a range of Linux distributions:
- Ubuntu — 24.04 LTS
- Debian — 13
- AlmaLinux — 9
- Rocky Linux — 9
- CentOS Stream — 9
You can also upload a Custom ISO to install any Linux distribution you need.
You can reinstall your operating system at any time through the panel — in just a few minutes, without a support ticket.
Use Cases
A VPS is the right choice when you need:
- Full control over the operating system and software stack
- A custom game server not available as a managed product
- A web server, database, or development environment
- Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerized applications
- Multiple services running on one machine
VPS vs. Game Server
If you just want to play a supported game with friends, a managed game server is easier — it comes preconfigured and ready to go. Choose a VPS when you need flexibility and are comfortable with Linux system administration.
