Valheim inventory upgrades: Haldor's pockets in 1.0

Valheim 1.0 lets you expand your inventory through Haldor without installing a mod. The release notes name Wider Pockets and Deeper Pockets as purchases. Before spending your coins, check whether you need more empty slots or more carrying capacity. Extra inventory space and the Megingjord belt solve different problems.

Which inventory upgrades does Haldor sell in Valheim 1.0?

Iron Gate confirms both pocket upgrades in the official 1.0 patch notes. The Valheim Wiki’s Haldor reference documents Wider Pockets at 1,000 coins, adding one inventory row after Moder has been defeated.

The name Deeper Pockets does not establish a particular number of slots or an increased weight limit. We will add those details when we have a reliable reference. Treat a guide that supplies an unsupported price as something to check against the shop, rather than a reason to change your world.

Do you need extra slots or extra carrying weight?

Open your inventory just before your next return trip. If every slot is occupied while your weight allowance has room left, you need space for more item types. Seeds, trophies, individual ingredients and the new Battle and Protection Idols are common reasons to keep small stacks.

If you have empty slots but are overloaded, another row alone will not fix the problem. Megingjord is the more relevant purchase. The belt must be equipped and uses the accessory slot, putting it in competition with the Wisplight in the Mistlands. The new options for clearing mist in 1.0 are therefore particularly useful to investigate before a hauling trip.

A budgeting example: With 1,200 coins you can buy either Wider Pockets for 1,000 or Megingjord for 950. Together they cost 1,950. A player constantly discarding different dungeon finds may benefit more from slots. Someone bringing ore home should check carrying weight first. This is our recommendation based on their effects, not a required purchase order.

Why is Wider Pockets missing from Haldor’s shop?

His assortment depends on world progression. First check whether Moder has been defeated in the world where you are shopping. Defeating the boss elsewhere is not reliable evidence that the current world’s requirement has been met.

Next, check the game version. An old Early Access client or a session that has not been updated is not a useful comparison for the 1.0 assortment. Mods affecting traders, inventory or progression may introduce their own rules. This guide concerns vanilla 1.0.

If the entry remains missing, record the version, world progression and active mods before making changes. Installing another inventory plugin when a shop requirement is the actual obstacle only makes the issue harder to diagnose.

How do you find Haldor and pay for the upgrade?

Haldor is a Black Forest trader. The community reference describes multiple possible locations per world, with one being selected as a player approaches. Coordinates from an unrelated seed are not a universal destination. Explore additional Black Forest regions and watch for the trader marker.

We recommend setting up a portal connection nearby once you find him. That makes shopping part of your regular supply routine instead of a separate sailing expedition. Give the portal a label everyone in the group understands.

Haldor buys valuables including amber, amber pearls, rubies and silver necklaces. Keep these trade goods separate from building resources and equipment. Check the displayed return when selling and reserve coins for the purchase you planned. With a shared treasury, agree on priorities before someone spends the funds on a different item.

How should you use the extra row?

Decide which finds matter before leaving base. The new row fills quickly if every player collects the same assortment of tiny stacks. Split collection duties and put the haul away when you return. The Deep North crafting chain introduces forms and resources you did not need in earlier regions.

More slots should reduce the need to discard useful finds. They do not replace sufficient carrying capacity or an accessible route home. Filling the last slot with an incidental drop still leaves you making a choice when something important appears.
