How do I manage a Satisfactory server?
You manage Satisfactory servers through the in-game Server Manager: in the main menu under Server Manager you connect to your server, claim it with an admin password on first contact, and configure sessions, settings and game rules there. For the console there’s a dedicated Console tab, and since version 1.0 there’s also an HTTPS API for tools and automation. This guide covers all three — plus the current state with patch 1.2.
Where do I find the server console?
The Server Manager has a Console tab: it shows the server log and lets you send console commands directly to the server — no external tool, no RCON. The only requirement is being logged in as admin on that server (claim on first connect).
Tip
The Console tab is the fastest route for day-to-day admin work. For anything automated (monitoring, restarts, external dashboards), the HTTPS API is the better choice.
How does the HTTPS API work?
Since version 1.0, every dedicated server ships with a built-in HTTPS API:
https://<server-ip>:7777/api/v1/
It runs on the same port as the game (7777) and accepts JSON requests — this is how community tools, status pages and admin dashboards talk to the server. Authentication works via tokens issued by the server. The API is the official interface for everything beyond the in-game manager.
What does patch 1.2 change on the server?
Patch 1.2 (Experimental March 17, 2026, Stable since June 2, 2026) brings its content fully to dedicated servers:
| New feature | What it means for the server |
|---|---|
| Weather system | Runs fully server-side |
| Fluid trucks / tankers + stations | New vehicle logistics for fluids |
| New vehicle pathfinding | Vehicles navigate more reliably |
| Unreal Engine 5.6.1 | Engine upgrade under the hood |
| Console parity | Console clients on the same version |
Warning
1.2 saves are not backwards compatible: a world saved under 1.2 can no longer be loaded with 1.1. And SML mods built against 1.1 break with the engine upgrade. Before updating: create a backup and re-enable mods only after their 1.2 releases.
Can console players join my server?
Short answer: no. The facts on the console version (released November 4, 2025 for PS5/Xbox):
- Crossplay console ↔ console: yes, via Epic Online Services (EOS)
- Crossplay PC ↔ console: no
- Dedicated servers from console: not possible — console players cannot connect to dedicated servers
A rented dedicated server is therefore a PC-only affair (Steam ↔ Epic works fine between each other, see the setup guide).
Frequently asked questions
Do I need RCON for Satisfactory? No. Satisfactory doesn’t use RCON — administration runs through the in-game Server Manager (incl. Console tab) and the HTTPS API.
Which port does the API use?
The game port: https://<server-ip>:7777/api/v1/. No separate port needed.
Can I roll my 1.2 save back to 1.1? No — 1.2 saves aren’t backwards compatible. That’s why you back up your 1.1 world before updating.
Why won’t my mods load after the 1.2 update? The engine upgrade to UE 5.6.1 breaks SML mods built against 1.1. Wait for 1.2-compatible versions of your mods.
