Crafting Deep North equipment takes more than stockpiling the next metal. You need matching Moulds, other materials and new production facilities. The release notes confirm Moulds and Casts, Bloodgold, Frostcores, the Frost Foundry and the Frigid Kiln. If progression has stalled, first identify which part of that chain is missing.
Crafting progression spoilers
This guide covers Deep North materials and dungeon access. It does not describe the final boss fight.
Which finds move your crafting forward?
This overview combines the officially confirmed additions with locations documented in Game8’s current Deep North guide. Check the exact in-game recipe before allocating resources for the whole group.
| Missing requirement | Where to focus your search | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon Mould | Winding Tunnels and Mörkhalla | Unlock the corresponding equipment through the Mould/Cast progression |
| Armor Mould | Wardrobes in abandoned homesteads; also documented on certain enemies | Further armor recipes |
| Frostcores | Winding Tunnels | Frost Foundry and Frigid Kiln |
| Petrified Tissue | Gammeltrolls and petrified Gammeltroll deposits | Processing into Bloodgold |
| Access to Mörkhalla | Intricate Key Mould in Winding Tunnels | Prepare the next dungeon entrance |
This is a search aid, not a guaranteed loot list for each room. An unsuccessful visit does not disprove a documented location, and it does not guarantee the desired drop on your next attempt.
Why focus on Winding Tunnels early?
Game8 documents the tunnels as a source of Frostcores, weapon Moulds and the Intricate Key Mould. An expedition can therefore address several obstacles: missing production facilities, missing equipment and access to Mörkhalla.
According to that reference, entrances can be found behind the largest structure in abandoned homesteads. Check wardrobes and barrels on your approach too. They can contain useful supplies and forms before you enter the dungeon.
We recommend agreeing on who carries important finds and when to head back. A successful trip does not require clearing every area. Once you have secured a needed Mould and Frostcores, returning to the workshop may help the group more than entering another unknown room.
How do Moulds, Casts and finished equipment differ?
The current gameplay guide describes turning the appropriate Mould into a Cast before forging the new equipment. Keep those stages separate when sorting materials so that a missing intermediate step is not mistaken for a shortage of raw resources.
Check the recipe in order: do you have the right Mould? Has the intermediate step been completed? Is the required station available? Are all remaining ingredients present? That process identifies the obstacle more efficiently than collecting more metal on speculation.
The release notes list Nord, Frostfire and Thunderblood weapons as well as new magic staves. Their inclusion does not establish a shared recipe or unlock condition for every variant. Start with the specific item you want and read its own requirements. We do not provide unverified universal recipes.
How does Petrified Tissue become Bloodgold?
Bloodgold is one of the new metals. Game8 describes processing Petrified Tissue in a Blast Furnace. The material is documented on Gammeltrolls and at petrified Gammeltroll deposits. The guide identifies Ember Charges as necessary for mining those deposits.
Fighting a creature and harvesting a petrified deposit are therefore different tasks. If you arrived expecting to mine the next ore with an ordinary pickaxe, check this distinction before dismissing a deposit as scenery. Bring the tools or consumables shown by the relevant recipes; the patch notes alone do not provide quantities or extraction rates.
Our recommendation for the first production run: Pick one concrete upgrade that will help your group. Record its in-game requirements and work toward that result. Starting a partial set for every player can consume your supplies without finishing an upgrade for anyone.
What should you plan for the route home and your base?
The official notes introduce deep snow, slippery ice and the Grappling Hook. Snow must be cleared before building. Choose an outpost based on access and usable building ground as well as its view.
For an Early Access world, prioritize unexplored regions. Iron Gate confirms in the 1.0 FAQ that old saves survive the update, while proper generation of new biome content needs unexplored terrain. You do not have to abandon your group’s entire world immediately.
Consider Haldor’s inventory upgrades when managing lots of small stacks. Our 1.0 building guide covers planning a construction project with the new pieces.
FAQ
Where do Frostcores come from?
The current Deep North guide documents them in Winding Tunnels.
Why does having Bloodgold not unlock a weapon?
New Deep North equipment also involves matching Moulds, intermediate steps and crafting stations.
How do I open Mörkhalla?
The documented entrance requires the Intricate Key, whose Mould is found in Winding Tunnels.
Should I follow an old video’s exact recipe?
Compare it with your current 1.0 recipe display, especially if the video uses preview footage or mods.
