DayZ Badlands: October 15, 2026 Release, Nasdara and Update 1.30 for Servers

When does DayZ Badlands release?

DayZ Badlands launches on October 15, 2026 on all platforms. Bohemia Interactive announced the date on August 27, 2026 and has confirmed it several times since, most recently on September 16, 2026. Badlands is a paid expansion with the new map Nasdara and releases together with update 1.30. That update has been running as Experimental on Steam since September 16, 2026.

What is Nasdara?

According to Bohemia, Nasdara is the largest map in official DayZ at 267 km². The desert province lies west of Chernarus and borders Takistan’s western frontier. Water is scarce because many wells did not survive the war. On top of that there are regional clothing, firearms and region-specific infected variants.

How does rebuilding work in Badlands?

Bohemia introduced the new rebuilding system in Dev Blog 5 (July 17, 2026):

• Nasdara has over 5,000 damaged houses that can be rebuilt or barricaded. There are about 20 variants made of mud or stone.
• You can rebuild an entire house or just secure a single room with a door and windows.
• New are the trowel as well as bricks and mortar. Logs, planks and metal sheets still work.
• Wells can be restored as well.
• The existing base building with fences stays in the game.

There is also a new code lock. It needs a charged 9V battery, unlocks when the battery runs out and temporarily refuses new codes after several wrong attempts. According to Bohemia the lock will be available on all other maps too (Dev Blog Recap, July 31, 2026). Bohemia notes in every dev blog that details can still change before release.

What does update 1.30 bring?

Bohemia assigned version 1.30 to Badlands and its accompanying base game update. The Experimental build from September 16, 2026 does not include all expansion content yet, as Bohemia is holding some of it back until release. It includes, among other things:

• Motorbikes: a moped and an enduro with new two-wheeled physics and ragdoll on crashes. Neither has storage space or a passenger seat. According to Dev Blog 7 (September 11, 2026) they are not limited to Nasdara, but appear less often on the other maps.
• Over 150 reworked inventory icons
• Infected now attack upward, centered or downward depending on the height of their target and have a new running heavy attack.
• Color variants for select firearms

What do server owners need to know now?

• Nasdara on community servers: Bohemia provides the official mission files in the GitHub repo DayZ-Central-Economy. So far it only contains Chernarus, Livonia and Sakhal. The Sakhal mission was added on Frostline’s release day (October 15, 2024). As soon as Bohemia publishes the mission files for Nasdara, we will add the matching template value to this article and the maps guide.
• DLC requirement: Bohemia has not said anything official yet. For Frostline, anyone who wants to join a server running Sakhal must own the DLC. Whether Badlands works the same way remains open until release.
• Backup before the update: Update 1.30 changes game and server files. Back up your persistence first, as described in the backups guide.
• Check your mods: Bohemia warns that animation-related mods may run into problems with 1.30. After the update, wait until your mods have been updated (mods guide).
• Customized Central Economy: Bohemia updates the official mission files on update days. If you use your own types.xml or events.xml, compare them with the new files afterwards, otherwise new items will be missing on your server (Central Economy guide).
• Hardware: Bohemia has not published server requirements for Nasdara. The current figures are in our RAM recommendations.
• Consoles: Badlands also launches on consoles, but Bohemia only provides community servers for Xbox and PlayStation through its official console partner. RespawnHost hosts DayZ servers for PC (Steam).
