Can PC and console players play together on one server?

Yes — since V3.0 “Dead Hot Summer”, 7 Days to Die supports crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, including on dedicated servers from day one. For console players to join, your server has to meet four conditions: crossplay enabled, EAC on, 8 players maximum and no mods. PS4 and Xbox One are not supported.

Which settings does a crossplay server need?

These properties in serverconfig.xml (at RespawnHost in the panel under Configuration) are mandatory for crossplay:

PropertyValueWhy
ServerAllowCrossplaytrueEnables crossplay
EACEnabledtrueMandatory — no console joins without Easy Anti-Cheat
ServerMaxPlayerCount8 (or fewer)Crossplay limit: more than 8 slots disables crossplay
IgnoreEOSSanctionsfalseEOS sanctions must be respected

On top of that: no mods whatsoever — every installed mod blocks console players from joining. A crossplay server is always a vanilla server.

Warning

The 8-player limit is hard: set ServerMaxPlayerCount higher and the server keeps running as a PC-only server — console players stay locked out. If you want more than 8 slots, you have to give up crossplay.

Which platforms are in — and which aren’t?

PlatformCrossplay on dedicated servers
PC (Steam)Yes
PlayStation 5Yes
Xbox Series X|SYes
PS4 / Xbox OneNo — V3.0 does not release for the last console generation

Crossplay or mods — what’s the trade-off?

You have to choose:

  • Crossplay server: vanilla, max 8 players, EAC on — in exchange, friends on PS5 and Xbox can join. The roughly 150 sandbox options of the SandboxCode remain fully available, because sandbox settings are not mods.
  • PC server with mods: as many slots as you like and full modding freedom — but Steam players only.

Tip

Even without mods you can heavily customize a crossplay server: presets like Bite Club (permadeath) or your own sandbox code with adjusted difficulty, XP rate and blood moon rhythm work on crossplay servers without restriction.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t my console friends join? Check the four mandatory settings: ServerAllowCrossplay=true, EACEnabled=true, 8 slots maximum, IgnoreEOSSanctions=false — and make sure not a single mod is installed. Even one mod blocks all console joins.

Can I disable crossplay later and install mods? Yes — crossplay is a server setting, not a permanent commitment. Just be aware your console teammates won’t be able to join after the switch.

Do console players need a specific version? PS5 and Xbox Series players need the current V3.0 release — it shipped simultaneously with the PC version, so all platforms stay on the same build.
