Officially, Abiotic Factor is designed for 1-6 players. On a dedicated server you can raise MaxServerPlayers up to 24 — above 6 players the game shows a warning on join, and the balance is tuned for 6.

How do I set a password?

Via the -ServerPassword launch parameter, configurable directly in our panel. Recommended — without a password your server is visible to everyone in the server browser.

How much RAM do I need?

There is no official requirement. In practice, 4 GB is enough for small teams; for 6 players and large bases we recommend 6 GB (Lab Partner).

No, Abiotic Factor is a pure co-op game. You fight the facility and its inhabitants together.

Simply restart the server. Our system installs the update automatically.

There is no official mod support (as of July 2026). The community mods on PC via UE4SS — this also works on dedicated servers, but it is unofficial and without support guarantees.

Where are the servers located?

We have servers in Germany and in the USA (Salt Lake City).

What happens when I die?

By default (DeathPenalties=1) you keep equipped items and your hotbar; the rest drops into a death bag where you died. In SandboxSettings.ini you can set this from 0 (keep everything) to 5 (everything destroyed).

Can I change the difficulty?

Yes, via the SandboxSettings.ini in the world folder — from loot amounts and hunger to death penalties. Editable directly in our panel.

How do I change the server name?

Via the -SteamServerName launch parameter, configurable in our panel. The name is not stored in a config file.

Can friends play when I'm offline?

Yes, that's the advantage of a dedicated server. It keeps running even when you're not there.

Is the server persistent?
