What is a Windrose Server?

A Windrose server is a dedicated co-op server for the pirate survival game by Kraken Express (Publisher: Pocketpair Publishing, known for Palworld). The world exists independently of any single player's machine: bases, ships, recruited NPCs, discovered dungeons and boss progress stay saved even when nobody is online. Play seamlessly between ship and shore – naval battles with cannon fire and boarding actions, base building from shacks to fortresses, melee combat with sabres, rapiers and halberds, firearms like pistols and muskets. A dedicated server enables stable crew sessions of up to 8 players (the developers recommend up to 4 for the best performance), persistent settlements and controlled restarts without peer-to-peer host dependency.

Server, backups, configs and logs from one UI – no rebadged third-party panel.

Per-second billing

Every second online is billed individually. Server asleep = bill asleep.

Always-on DDoS protection

Permanent network and application-layer protection, no surcharge.

Support with salt in its beard

Real people via live chat and ticket, no scripted replies.

Which Windrose package fits your crew?

Windrose keeps naval simulation, NPC settlements and dungeons in memory at once. The player cap is 8, so world size and base scope – not the slot count – drive the RAM requirement.

Small Crew

8

Two to four players, one base, one coastal region.

Full Crew

Group with multiple ships, NPC settlement and a main fortress.

Fleet

24

Full crew on a long-lived world: many settlements, endgame boss raids and a widely explored map.

Windrose server FAQ – frequently asked questions

Rent a Windrose Server: the complete guide for 2026

Looking to rent a Windrose server? RespawnHost offers dedicated Windrose servers from release day on April 14, 2026. Windrose is the pirate survival adventure by Kraken Express, co-published by Pocketpair Publishing (Japan) – the publisher behind Palworld. You play a captain who dares to stand against Blackbeard, sailing through procedural biomes, fighting naval battles with boarding mechanics, building bases and cutting through 100+ handcrafted dungeons. With Pay-per-Use at RespawnHost, you only pay when the server runs – perfect for crews who sail on weekends instead of every day.

Rent a Windrose Server: why RespawnHost is the right choice

We're here from day one. While other hosts roll out Windrose packages weeks after release, we supported the title in full from April 14, 2026. Windrose pushes hardware harder than most survival titles: ship physics, NPC settlement production, persistent dungeons and procedural biomes all run in parallel. Our AMD Ryzen™ 9 5950X CPUs with ECC RAM and NVMe SSDs hold it together, even when your frigate starts a boarding fight at full sail while a boss raid kicks off on the other side of the map.

The core advantage: at RespawnHost you only pay while the server is online. No monthly flat fee, no minimum term, no setup fee. Our data centres in Germany (Frankfurt) and the USA deliver low pings on both continents. You get full SFTP access to configs and saves, your own control panel without rebadged third-party bloat, and support from people who actually play Windrose – no scripted replies.

Windrose features for server admins

  • Per-second billing instead of a flat monthly fee – server off, bill off
  • Live in under 90 seconds after ordering, no provisioning waiting room
  • Full SFTP access to configs, saves and backup archives
  • Permanent DDoS protection on network and application layer, no surcharge
  • Full 8-player co-op on every tier – no per-slot pricing
  • Our own control panel – no rebadged Pterodactyl, no third-party bloat
  • Automatic updates on server start, including Early Access patches
  • Live package upgrades without world migration

As a server admin you have full control over the Windrose server settings. Server name, invite code, password, player count (up to 8) and the world difficulty (enemy and ship modifiers, boarding difficulty) are all configurable. Backups run automatically, restarts can be scheduled via a task planner, and all logs are visible in the panel. Want to dig deeper? Full SFTP access to savegames and server files is included.

Windrose server pricing: Pay-Per-Use explained

Windrose crews rarely play every day. A realistic week looks like this: Friday 8pm to midnight, Saturday 6pm to 11pm, Sunday 3pm to 10pm. That's 16 hours a week, roughly 64 per month. On a Dinghy tier (8 GB RAM) that runs about €1.78 – versus €19.99 if the server stayed up 24/7. Eleven times cheaper, same progress, because the world stays saved persistently.

At RespawnHost you get full cost control via prepaid credit. Top up once, launch your Windrose server in under 90 seconds. No hidden subscriptions, no notice periods, no setup fees. You see live in the panel exactly how much the server is burning per second. Take a three-week break because the crew schedule falls apart? You pay nothing for three weeks. The world still waits – on persistent NVMe storage.

Windrose server locations: Germany and USA

We run Windrose servers in Frankfurt (Germany) for DE/EU crews and at US locations for North American players. During checkout you pick the site your crew can reach with the lowest ping. Mixed crews with players on both sides benefit from a DDoS-protected backbone and gigabit uplinks. Both regions run on identical AMD Ryzen 9 hardware – no region-specific performance gap.

Windrose server types: which one fits you?

Crew servers for friend groups are the typical use case. Four to eight players, one shared world, one permanent base, regular weekend sessions. 8-16 GB RAM is enough. A dedicated crew server fixes the biggest problem of peer-to-peer: the world stays available regardless of who is online. No host player kicking everyone when they log off.

Heavy, long-lived worlds for a full crew (up to 8 players) that plays a lot. Multiple fortresses, active NPC settlements, parallel boss raids and always-on production chains push both memory and CPU. For these we recommend 16-24 GB RAM. Ideal for organised roleplay communities, clan wars or event weekends.

Maximum-persistence worlds need the full package. 24-32 GB RAM, many active biomes, multiple settlements and high ship density. If your full crew regularly runs events, spawns dungeons and keeps NPC production running across the map for months, the Man o' War tier is the match. The extra RAM buys world headroom, not more slots – Windrose stays capped at 8 players. The Pay-per-Use model still applies: even a 32 GB server only costs money while it's up.

Windrose server: technical requirements and RAM guide

RAM requirements for Windrose scale heavily with crew size and the scope of the persistent world. For a small crew (2-4 players, one base), 8 GB RAM is enough. For a full crew (4-8 players, multiple ships, NPC settlement with production) we recommend 16 GB RAM – this is the sweet-spot configuration we suggest for most groups.

For a full crew on a long-lived world with several active fortresses, 24 GB RAM is the right call. Once parallel boss dungeons stay open, multiple NPC settlements produce resources and the crew operates across many biomes, the server needs that headroom. For maximum-persistence worlds and heavy event weekends we recommend 32 GB RAM (Man o' War tier). None of this raises the player cap – Windrose stays at 8 players, so the extra RAM is pure world headroom.

At RespawnHost you can upgrade or downgrade your package live – no new world slot, no migration, no progress lost. Start small, test performance with your real crew size and scale as needed. Pay-per-Use makes testing risk-free: book a Man o' War tier for a week and play only on the weekend – the bill stays low because the server is off between sessions.

Building a Windrose community: tips for server admins

A Windrose server lives and dies with its crew. Set up a parallel Discord server with channels for session planning, loot distribution, event announcements and off-topic. Define clear rules for PvE or PvP behaviour, especially if your crew runs public server events. Roleplay communities benefit from character rules and fixed crew roles – captain, quartermaster, gunner, carpenter.

Plan recurring event weekends: historical battle reenactments, clan raiding sprees, full-crew dungeon runs, extended expeditions into undiscovered biomes. With 100+ handcrafted dungeons and a procedural world, there's material for months of active sessions. Active admins who respond to feedback and balance fairly keep a crew together long-term – in Windrose, communication is the difference between a dead world and a living sea chart.

Windrose world reset: when and how?

Unlike Rust or similar PvP survival titles, Windrose has no forced wipe. Your world grows organically: every settlement, every ship, every defeated boss stays saved permanently. We still recommend voluntary world resets every few months when the crew craves fresh biomes and new routes – a new world with a fresh seed is one panel click away.

Before any reset, run a manual backup of the current save. On RespawnHost you can do it through the panel or via SFTP. The old world stays archived and can be restored later if the crew misses their first home. Scheduled auto-backups at configurable intervals are also available.

What is Windrose? Developer, publisher and release

Windrose is developed by Kraken Express and co-published by Pocketpair Publishing (Japan) – the publisher behind Palworld. The game launched on April 14, 2026 in Early Access on Steam and has held a spot in the top co-op survival charts ever since. Windrose takes place in an alternate age of piracy: historical figures meet supernatural forces, you face the notorious Blackbeard as a captain, and you guide your crew through a world torn between empires, pirate clans and dark horizons. Playable solo offline or co-op with friends, supporting both self-hosted peer-to-peer worlds and dedicated servers.

Versus traditional hosts: most providers charge €15-40 per month whether you play four hours or forty. Here, you pay for actual online time. A typical crew setup with 64 session hours per month costs 80-90% less on Pay-per-Use. The one catch: stop the server after the session. If you forget, you burn credit – but an optional auto-stop rule shuts the server down after a defined idle window.
