How much does a Terraria server cost?

TShock is a modified server software for Terraria that offers plugins, commands, and better protection. The current version TShock 6 supports the Terraria 1.4.5 series.

Desktop and mobile players can play together via TShock with the crossplay plugin (versions must be compatible). Re-Logic has announced official crossplay between PC, console, and mobile — planned to arrive after the 1.4.5 hotfixes.

How do I upload my world?

Copy your `.wld` file into the `Worlds` folder via SFTP and adjust the config.

How do I become Admin (TShock)?

At the first start, the console shows a setup code. Enter this in the game (`/setup [code]`) to create the SuperAdmin.

Can I play Journey Mode?

Yes, this is determined during world creation or in the config.

How do I install plugins?

Upload the `.dll` files into the `ServerPlugins` folder (only with TShock).

How many players fit on it?

The default is 16 players, and up to 255 are possible via maxplayers in serverconfig.txt. For good performance we recommend a maximum of 20.

Where are the servers located?

How do I update the server?

A simple restart in the panel automatically downloads the latest version.

Can I use Mods (tModLoader)?

We primarily support Vanilla and TShock; tModLoader is possible on request. Note: the stable tModLoader build is still based on Terraria 1.4.4 — the 1.4.5 port is in progress according to the dev team.

How do I ban griefers?

With TShock you can ban players (`/ban [name]`) and protect regions.

Does time continue running?

By default, the server pauses when no one is online.

How do I see the map?

With the actively maintained tool TEdit you can open and view `.wld` files locally — just download the world via SFTP.

As Admin with TShock you can give yourself items (`/give [item]`).

Is my server already running update 1.4.5?

Yes, update 1.4.5 "Bigger & Boulder" has been live since January 27, 2026 and is installed automatically on our servers — a restart is all it takes. TShock 6 supports the 1.4.5 series as well.
