How many players can join the server?

The default is 40 players (MaxConnectedUsers); according to the official docs, up to 128 are technically supported. For 40+ players we recommend at least 16 GB RAM.

How much RAM do I need?

Expect around 4 GB base usage. 4-6 GB is enough for small groups, 8 GB for full clans with large castles, and 12-16 GB for servers with 30-40+ players — usage grows with castle expansion and servants.

How do I change the settings?

Edit ServerGameSettings.json (game rules) or ServerHostSettings.json (name, password, ports) — directly in the RespawnHost web interface. You can adjust almost everything there.

How do I become admin?

Add your SteamID to adminlist.txt and use the in-game console with the command adminauth.

Are there PvP protection times?

Yes. Setting CastleDamageMode to TimeRestricted defines raid windows during which castles can be attacked — outside of them your castle is safe. PlayerDamageMode controls PvP damage the same way.

How large can clans be?

The default is 4. On your own server you raise the limit via ClanSize in ServerGameSettings.json, e.g. to 10 for large groups.

Does the world keep running when no one is online?

Yes — while the server is running, refinement stations and servant missions keep progressing and time passes. If you stop the server in the panel, everything pauses completely and no pay-per-use costs accrue.

How often does the server save?

Automatically via AutoSaveInterval (default every 600 seconds); AutoSaveCount determines how many save states are kept (default 50).

Can I enable Brutal mode?

Yes, set GameDifficultyPreset to Difficulty_Brutal — tougher bosses with new mechanics. Alternatively Difficulty_Easy or Difficulty_Normal.

Can I allow teleporting with resources?

Yes, set TeleportBoundItems to false in ServerGameSettings.json — then bound items can travel through waygates.

Yes, V Rising has an active modding community built around BepInEx (IL2CPP variant) and Thunderstore. Since Stunlock no longer ships content updates, the modding scene stays stable.

Do you support crossplay?

V Rising has no crossplay: PC (Steam) and PS5 use separate servers. Our servers are PC servers (Steam) — PS5 players cannot join them.

Only with limitations: the built-in Vivox proximity voice does not work out of the box on rented servers — it requires your own Unity/Vivox credentials in a ServerVoipSettings.json. A Discord server for your team is the practical choice.

Can I change the daylight duration?

Yes, DayDurationInSeconds (default 1080 = 18 minutes) plus DayStartHour/DayEndHour in GameTimeModifiers control the day-night cycle.

Is a V Rising server still worth it in 2026?

Yes. With over 5 million players, the game is feature-complete: the story up to Dracula is finished, and "Invaders of Oakveil" (2025) was the final major content update. Only bug fixes follow — so your world and mods remain stable long-term.

How do I update the server?

Simply restart the server — the latest version is loaded automatically on startup.

Yes, delete the save folder or set a new SaveName to generate a fresh world.

What happens during a server restart?

The server saves, shuts down, and restarts. Players are briefly disconnected and can rejoin right away.

Where are the servers located?

V Rising in 2026: Invaders of Oakveil and "The Next Era"

With update 1.1 "Invaders of Oakveil" (April 28, 2025), V Rising received its biggest free update yet: the new Oakveil Woodlands region, the Venom Blades enemy faction, and the boss Megara the Serpent Queen. Over 5 million players have roamed Vardoran by now — the current server version is 1.1.x, and your RespawnHost server picks up patches with a simple restart.

In Dev Update #32 "The Next Era" (March 26, 2026), Stunlock Studios announced that the journey to Dracula is complete: no new content updates are in development — only bug fixes and balance patches will follow while the studio works on a new game in the V Rising universe. For server owners, that is good news: a finished, stable version without breaking changes, where long-term worlds and mod setups pay off.
