What is a Schedule I server?

A Schedule I server is a permanently running multiplayer server for the business simulation game by TVGS. Schedule I ships without a dedicated server of its own – out of the box one player hosts through a Steam lobby, and the cap is four players. That is why we run S1DedicatedServers / DedicatedServerMod by ifBars: an open-source, headless server that keeps your save independent of the host and raises the player count beyond the vanilla limit – up to 20 slots with us. ifBars has explicitly permitted our use and supports us with setup; our deployment is based on the project's official Docker container. At RespawnHost you rent the server via Pay-per-Use from 0.0480 €/h or as a fixed package from 12.00 €/month.

Frequently asked questions about Schedule I servers

Schedule I Server Hosting: a save that belongs to everyone

Schedule I is a building game dressed as a business simulation: you start small, optimise processes, expand production and distribution – and become a logistics planner surprisingly fast. In co-op the game runs into two limits though: four players, and the save depends on whoever is hosting. A rented server raises both – through community solutions that we name openly here instead of hiding them in the small print.

Why rent a Schedule I server anyway?

Because the everyday difference is big. In a game where production, supply routes and customer bases grow over many hours, it's annoying when progress hangs on one person's availability. On a server anyone in your group can carry on whenever they have time – the save lives centrally and is backed up automatically.

Then there's group size: if you want to play with five or six people, the modded server is the only route anyway. Technically we use modern AMD Ryzen CPUs and NVMe SSDs – in Frankfurt am Main for Europe and Salt Lake City for North America.

Support that thinks along

Our support team plays the games themselves: precisely because community software is involved here, having someone to ask pays off – whether migrating a save, questions about mod compatibility or when something breaks after an update. Reach us via ticket and Discord, usually on weekends too.

Features for your co-op

  • Continuous operation: the save stays reachable even when the host is offline
  • Extended player count: up to 20 instead of the four vanilla slots
  • Central save: progress no longer hangs on a single machine
  • Automatic backups: save protection with 1-click restore
  • Full SFTP access: saves and mod folder available at any time
  • DDoS protection: permanently active, at no extra cost

Our web interface keeps management simple: start and stop the server, upload and download saves and manage mods – all with a few clicks in the panel, no console work.

Fairness redefined: the Pay-Per-Use principle

Schedule I is played in sessions, not continuously. With our Pay-Per-Use model you only pay while your server is actually running – the hourly rate for 4 GB is around 0.0480 €, so a four-hour co-op evening costs about 0.19 €.

Full cost control thanks to prepaid credit: top up, start immediately. No hidden subscriptions, no notice periods – particularly pleasant with a mod-based solution, because you're not tied to anything. If you want the server running continuously, the fixed package starts at 12.00 €/month with up to 20 % term discount.

Locations: Frankfurt am Main & Salt Lake City

Instead of spreading ourselves thin from London to Singapore, we focus on the regions our community actually lives in: Frankfurt for Europe, Salt Lake City for North America – for stable connections while building together.

Steam lobby or your own server?

There are two ways to play together, and the choice mainly depends on your group size:

Classic co-op via Steam: One player hosts, the others join through the friends list. Free, no extra software and no compatibility worries – but a maximum of four players, and the world only exists while the host is online. For a fixed duo or trio that's often the simplest solution.

Rented server with community mod: The save runs standalone, everyone can join at any time, and the player count can be raised beyond the vanilla limit. The price is dependence on community software that has to catch up after game updates.

Our honest recommendation: if there are three or four of you and you're usually online together anyway, the Steam lobby is enough. If you're more people or want to play independently of each other, the server is worth it – and thanks to Pay-per-Use a trial evening costs around 20 cents.

Setting up a Schedule I server: mods, save & slots

You manage the important settings of your server entirely through our panel:

As a RAM guideline: two players run fine on Corner (4 GB). For the classic four-player co-op, Block (6 GB) is the right tier, and District (8 GB) from six players up. As the group grows to ten or more, Uptown (12 GB) and Empire (16 GB) are appropriate, and for the full 20 slots with a long mod list, Kingpin (24 GB) – mods and built-out logistics noticeably increase memory use.

  • Player count: vanilla allows four; the matching community mod can raise that limit
  • Mod management: install the server mod and extensions through the panel or SFTP
  • Save upload: upload an existing co-op world via SFTP and continue right away
  • Server password: protects your save from uninvited guests
  • Automatic backups: created in the background and restorable with a click
  • Ports: automatically set up and opened at RespawnHost

Honestly: Schedule I has no official dedicated server

This belongs up front: TVGS ships Schedule I without an official dedicated server. Out of the box multiplayer runs through Steam lobbies – one player hosts the world, the others join, and the cap is four players. When the host goes offline, the evening is over for everyone.

Continuous operation therefore runs through the DedicatedServerMod by ifBars: it turns the game into a standalone, headless server and raises the player count beyond the four vanilla slots – up to 20 with us. The project is established, open source and actively maintained – but it does not come from the game's developer TVGS.

What that means in practice: all players need compatible mod versions, and after major Schedule I updates it can take several days for the mods to catch up. During that time server operation can be limited. We keep the versions as current as possible, but we can't guarantee update speed for third-party software. If that feels too uncertain, stick with normal four-player co-op – that is a perfectly legitimate decision.

What you should know about the mods

Two things matter before you start. First: all players must have the same, mutually compatible mod versions installed. A player with an outdated version simply won't get onto the server – that's the most common cause of connection problems.

Second: Schedule I is in Early Access and receives regular updates. Every major update can temporarily break the server mod until the authors catch up. We therefore strongly recommend taking a backup before every update – one click with us, and it can save many hours of building work.

If you can live with that, you get an experience the base game doesn't offer. If you need maximum reliability, the official four-player co-op serves you better – we'd rather say that beforehand than afterwards.

Software & credits: DedicatedServerMod by ifBars

Our Schedule I servers run on S1DedicatedServers / DedicatedServerMod by ifBars – an open-source project licensed under GPL-3.0. Without that work there would be no permanently running Schedule I servers at all, which is why the credit belongs up top and not in the small print.

Source code and releases live at github.com/ifBars/S1DedicatedServers, the official documentation at docs.s1servers.com. Our setup is based on the project's Docker container; we keep the build current with the public releases, and the version running on your server is shown in the panel.

We asked ifBars before launching rather than just going ahead – our use is explicitly permitted and he supports us with setup questions. Beyond that we work together through a creator code: enter the code Bars when topping up and you get 30 % extra credit, with ifBars receiving a share of those top-ups. That way part of what you spend here flows back into developing the mod.

We disclose this arrangement as the project's hosting guidelines require. What we explicitly are not: an official, exclusive or project-recommended provider. Questions about the mod itself are answered better by the linked documentation than by us – questions about your server belong with us.
