How do I install EXILED?

EXILED is the biggest plugin framework for SCP: SL and runs on LabAPI, Northwood's official plugin loader. Copy the files into the server folder via SFTP or the file manager — plugins then simply go into the EXILED plugin directory.

LabAPI has been Northwood's official plugin loader since 2025 and ships with the dedicated server. LabAPI and EXILED plugins run side by side on the same server; official plugins are listed in Northwood's plugin portal.

How do I get Verified Server Status?

You apply by email to Northwood, follow the Verified Server Rules, and must reply to messages from Northwood within 72 hours. The review is manual and takes days to weeks. Technically (static IP, standard ports) our servers are ready.

How do I become admin?

Add your SteamID64 to config_remoteadmin.txt. In-game, open the Remote Admin panel with the M key.

How much RAM do I need?

For 20-30 players, 4 GB (Site Director) is enough. With many EXILED plugins or 40+ players, 8 GB (O5 Council) is better — at that size, CPU performance matters too.

Which ports does an SCP: SL server use?

The game port is 7777 (UDP) by default; additional instances count up (7778, 7779 …). Configs live in the matching port folder, e.g. config/7777/config_gameplay.txt. At RespawnHost the port comes preconfigured.

Is SCP: Secret Laboratory free?

Is there a whitelist?

Yes, enable_whitelist in config_gameplay.txt lets only approved players onto the server.

Can I create custom roles?

With EXILED plugins you can create entirely new classes with their own abilities, loadouts, and spawns.

How do I ban players?

Via the Remote Admin panel (M key) in-game or via console.

Can I color the server name?

SCP: Secret Laboratory in 2026: version 14.2.5 and the road to 15.0

Northwood ships updates constantly: version 14.0 (December 2024) brought the Heavy Containment overhaul and SCP-1344, 14.1 (May 2025) added SCP-127 and visible armor, 14.2 (October 2025) introduced SCP-1509 and the Wayside area. The current version is 14.2.5 from January 7, 2026.
