What is a Stardew Valley server?

A Stardew Valley server is a permanently running multiplayer server for ConcernedApe's farming classic: your shared farm lives on the server instead of a host's PC – up to 8 players (since update 1.6) build, water and explore whenever they want. Since Stardew Valley ships without an official dedicated server, ours runs through the SMAPI modding API in an always-on setup. At RespawnHost you rent it Pay-per-Use from 0.0240 €/h or as a fixed plan from 6.00 €/month – ready in under 90 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions about Stardew Valley Servers

Stardew Valley Server Hosting: A Farm That Never Sleeps

Stardew Valley by ConcernedApe has been the heart of cozy co-op evenings for over a decade – the game celebrated its 10th anniversary on February 26, 2026. But multiplayer has one catch: normally the host has to be online, or the farm stands still. A Stardew Valley server from RespawnHost solves exactly that – your farm runs permanently in the data center, and everyone in your group plays whenever they want.

Why rent a Stardew Valley server at RespawnHost?

Stardew Valley ships without an official dedicated server – in normal co-op one player hosts, and when they go offline the session ends for everyone. Our server uses the SMAPI modding API with an always-on setup: the server takes over the host role, keeps the world open around the clock and saves centrally. Your friends water the crops, feed the animals and finish Community Center bundles – even when you don't have time.

To keep the farm smooth with 8 players, large mod lists and Skull Cavern runs, we rely on modern AMD Ryzen CPUs with high single-core performance and NVMe SSDs – in Frankfurt for Europe and Salt Lake City for North America. Automatic backups protect your save, and SFTP gives you direct access to saves and mods.

Service that thinks ahead: support from real farmers

Our support team plays the game themselves: save migration, mod questions or a server acting up after a SMAPI update – reach us via ticket and Discord, usually even on weekends.

Features for real farmers: SMAPI, 8 players & always-on

  • Up to 8 players: since update 1.6, Stardew Valley supports 8 simultaneous players on PC
  • Always-on: the farm runs 24/7 – no host PC needed
  • SMAPI mods: install mods via web interface or SFTP
  • Steam & GOG: PC players from both stores play together
  • Automatic backups: save protection with 1-click restore
  • DDoS protection: permanently active, at no extra cost

Our web interface keeps managing simple: start, stop and configure your Stardew Valley server with a few clicks in the panel, upload your existing save and manage SMAPI mods without typing a single command.

Fairness redefined: The Pay-Per-Use Principle

Stardew Valley is played in cozy sessions, not 24/7. With our Pay-Per-Use model you only pay while your server is actually running: after calling it a day on the farm, switch the server off and save money. Or keep it running so everyone can hop on anytime – you decide.

Full control over your costs thanks to prepaid balance: top up, start right away. No hidden subscriptions, no notice periods – you always see what your server consumes per hour.

Locations: Frankfurt & Salt Lake City

Instead of spreading ourselves thin from London to Singapore, we focus on the regions our community plays in: Frankfurt for Europe, Salt Lake City for North America – for consistently low pings.

Self-hosting or renting a Stardew Valley server?

There are three ways to farm together – with big differences in daily use:

Classic co-op (host mode): One player opens their farm, the others join via invite. Free, but the world only exists while the host is online – and their PC and upload limit performance for everyone. The in-game day also only ends once everyone is in bed.

Your own server at home: With SMAPI and community solutions like a headless setup, Stardew Valley can run on your own hardware – but you need a PC running 24/7, a port forward (UDP 24642) and tinkering after every update.

Rented server at RespawnHost: The always-on setup comes preconfigured, updates and backups run automatically, no port forwarding needed – and with Pay-per-Use you only pay for actual runtime on modern AMD Ryzen hardware.

Setting up your Stardew Valley server: cabins, mods & saves

You manage the important knobs of your server entirely through our panel – no console commands needed:

As a RAM guideline: a vanilla farm with 2-4 players runs comfortably on Sprout (2 GB); from 5 players or first mods we recommend 4 GB, and for large SMAPI mod lists with content expansions you're safe with 6-8 GB (Tiller/Rancher).

  • Cabins: every co-op player needs a cabin on the farm – up to 7 plus the host since 1.6, built in seconds at the carpenter
  • Player count: up to 8 players on PC (since update 1.6, previously 4)
  • Money & profit: shared or separate wallets and the profit margin are set when creating the farm
  • SMAPI mods: upload mods to the Mods folder, restart the server – done; players only need client-side mods where required
  • Save upload: upload your existing farm via SFTP to the saves folder and continue right away
  • Port: UDP 24642 – automatically configured and open at RespawnHost

Stardew Valley in 2026: 10 years, update 1.7 & more

For the 10th anniversary on February 26, 2026, ConcernedApe didn't just look back but also ahead: update 1.7 is officially in the works – with the first new marriage candidates in years (blacksmith Clint and desert shopkeeper Sandy), a new farm map and more character and social content. Deliberately, there is no release date: the update ships when it's ready.

The game currently runs on PC in version 1.6.15 – and the community is as active as ever: on July 27, 2026 an official Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair collection in Stardew design is even being released. With a server at RespawnHost you're ready for every update: a restart is all it takes, our system handles the rest.
