It needs power though: 16 GB RAM is recommended — our 14 GB plan is the entry point, larger factions should go for 20 to 32 GB. The first start takes noticeably longer because the galaxy's fixed sectors are generated.

Custom scenarios & playfields: With playfields.yaml and custom configs you build your own universe — custom planets, PvP/PvE zones per playfield, adjusted resource density. All editable via SFTP.

Empyrion in 2026: update v1.15 on your server

Update v1.15 (build 4960) landed on February 11, 2026 — the first major update of the year. The highlight is Short Range Warp: all warp drives can now jump to bookmarks, planets, or radar contacts in the same playfield without unlocking anything (align the ship, accelerate to 30 m/s, hit K). It also adds jumpgate prefabs for scenario creators and customizable asteroid fog in playfield files.

Your RespawnHost server automatically installs the latest version on startup — no manual patching for updates like v1.15. Crossplay between Steam and the Epic Games Store runs via Epic Online Services; EAC must be enabled on the server for it.
