FOUNDRY is at heart a co-op game designed for groups of 2-4 players. You set the limit yourself via servermaxplayers in the app.cfg – there is no documented hard cap, and common configs go up to 32 slots. With many players and large factories, CPU load rises accordingly.

No. FOUNDRY is a PC-only title available exclusively on Steam, and the publisher has not announced a console version. Dedicated servers therefore only exist for the PC release — which is what we run.

At RespawnHost, either pay-per-use from 0.0479 €/h (4 GB, billed per second only while the server runs) or a fixed plan from 12.00 €/month. 8 GB costs 22.79 €/month as a fixed plan – with 90/180/360-day terms you save 10-20%.

The game port is UDP 3724, plus the Steam query port UDP 27015 for the server browser (only relevant if serverispublic=true). Both come preconfigured at RespawnHost.

For 2-4 players in early game, 4-8 GB is enough. For complex factories with many machines and long conveyor nets, we recommend 12-16 GB. Late-game mega factories benefit from 20-24 GB.

Yes, as long as your server is online and pauseserverwhenempty=false is set – then machines keep producing even when nobody is logged in. With pauseserverwhenempty=true, the simulation pauses while the server is empty. If you stop the server, the state freezes.

FOUNDRY uses Unity as its presentation layer, while the actual factory simulation runs in a custom C++ library. That makes the server clock-speed hungry above all – which is why we run modern AMD Ryzen CPUs.

Yes, FOUNDRY has had official Steam Workshop support since Update 1 "Cable & Creations", including a Mod Kit and tweak system. On the server, install mods via Workshop collection or upload them via SFTP.

Yes, FOUNDRY has been in Early Access on Steam since May 2, 2024. Its biggest update yet, Update 4 "Rails & Reactors" with trains and modular power plants, launched on April 28, 2026; a 1.0 date has not been announced.

The server stops automatically. World, factories, and items are preserved and frozen. After topping up, production continues right where you left off.
