How do I activate Caves?

Our 'Cave Explorer' packages and higher have Caves pre-configured. You don't have to do anything but start the server.

What is a Cluster Token?

You need a token from Klei to run the server. In the game, go to 'Account' -> 'Games' -> 'Game Servers' and create a Cluster Token. Enter this with us.

How do I install mods?

Enter the mod IDs in the `dedicated_server_mods_setup.lua`. They are configured in the `modoverrides.lua`.

How much RAM do I need?

With Caves, two server processes run. We recommend at least 4 GB RAM for a stable experience with Caves.

How do I become admin?

Add your Klei User ID (KU_...) to the `adminlist.txt`. You can find your ID in the game under Account Info.

Can I change the world settings?

Yes, in the `worldgenoverride.lua` you can adjust resources, monsters, and seasons.

Simply restart the server. Our system installs the update automatically.

Customers can set up manual or automatic backups for a minimal fee.

How many players can play?

By default 6, but you can increase it in the config. Note that more players affect performance.

Where are the servers located?

We have servers in Germany and in USA (Salt Lake City).

Yes, you can activate PvP in the server settings.

Is the server persistent?

Yes, the world is saved. When all players are offline, the server pauses automatically (time stops).

Can I activate events (Winter's Feast etc.)?

Yes, you can force events in the config or leave them on 'Auto'.

What happens if my credit runs out?

The server stops. Your world remains. After topping up, it continues.

Can I change the server name?

Yes, in the `cluster.ini` under `cluster_name`.

DST has no built-in Voice Chat. Use Discord or TeamSpeak.

Can I change characters?

You can play 'Wilderness' mode or use items like the 'Celestial Portal' to change characters.

Are client mods allowed?

Yes, client mods (like Minimap HUD) work as long as the server does not explicitly forbid them.

How do I pause the server?

The server pauses automatically when no player is on it. You don't have to stop it manually (except to save money).

Can I set a password?

Yes, in the `cluster.ini` under `cluster_password`.
