How many players are supported?

Icarus is officially designed for 8-player co-op. Since the Week 54 update, the 8-player hard cap on dedicated servers is gone — MaxPlayers in ServerSettings.ini can be set higher, no mods required. More players do mean noticeably more CPU and RAM load.

How much RAM do I need?

For 2-4 players, 8-12 GB is enough. For a full 8-player lobby we recommend 16 GB. If you raise MaxPlayers or build very large outposts, 20-32 GB is the sweet spot.

Which ports does an Icarus server use?

UDP 17777 as the game port and UDP 27015 as the query port. Both are passed to IcarusServer.exe as launch parameters (-Port, -QueryPort) — preconfigured at RespawnHost.

Which game modes are supported?

All of them: Prospects (timed missions), Open World (persistent world without time limit), and Outposts (free building without mission pressure). You can switch modes from the web interface.

Do mods work on the server?

Yes, but not via Steam Workshop — Icarus does not support it. Mods are .pak files (e.g. from Nexus Mods) and go into the Icarus/Content/Paks/mods folder on the server. Important: every player needs the same mods installed locally.

Where are the servers located?

We operate locations in Germany and in the USA (Salt Lake City). Choose your location when creating the server.

What hardware does RespawnHost use?

We exclusively use AMD Ryzen processors – in Germany, modern AMD Ryzen CPUs with a 10 Gbit/s uplink. Storage runs on NVMe SSDs.

How fast is my server online?

The server itself comes online in under 90 seconds. Installing the Icarus game files takes another 1-3 minutes depending on location.

How does DDoS protection work?

Every server sits behind Premium Gaming DDoS Protection. It is always on at every location and included at no extra cost.

We create automatic backups. You can also create manual snapshots and restore any backup with one click from the web interface.

Can I migrate my singleplayer save?

Yes, you can upload characters and worlds via SFTP. Note: Prospect characters differ from your Open World character.

What happens if my credit runs out?

The server stops automatically. Your world, outposts, and character data remain intact. After topping up, everything continues right where you left off.

Is there a minimum contract?

No. There is no contract and no minimum term at RespawnHost. You top up credit and use it whenever you want.

How are updates installed?

Restart the server – our system fetches the update from Steam automatically and installs it before booting. Handy, because RocketWerkz ships new patches almost weekly.

Can I join a dedicated server from the Console Edition?

No. The Console Edition (PS5/Xbox Series X|S, released March 26, 2026) has no crossplay with the PC version — dedicated servers are only reachable with the Steam version.

How many Prospects can run at the same time?

One active world per server at a time. You can swap between Prospect slots without deleting the others.

Icarus is primarily PvE. Friendly fire can be enabled in the server settings, but there is no true PvP mode.

Can I use admin commands?

Yes. Admin rights are assigned through the web interface; in-game commands cover weather, spawns, and cheats.

How do I change the server name or password?

At any time via the web interface. Changes apply after a restart.

Do I have SFTP access?

Yes, full SFTP access to all server files, including save files and the mod directory.

Are scheduled restarts supported?

Yes. You can configure scheduled restarts (daily, weekly) from the web interface.

How fast is your support?

Icarus Dedicated Server: ports, ServerSettings.ini & MaxPlayers

The Icarus dedicated server uses two UDP ports: 17777 for game traffic and 27015 as the query port for the server browser. Server name and ports are passed to IcarusServer.exe as launch parameters; everything else lives in ServerSettings.ini, which is generated automatically under Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ on first start.

Icarus in 2026: Dangerous Horizons, the Kepler Update, and Console Edition

On March 5, 2026, Dangerous Horizons launched as the third major expansion — alongside the free Kepler Update for all players. That completes the last of the three chapters announced at launch; whether another add-on with a new map follows depends on its success, per RocketWerkz. Either way, the studio keeps shipping updates almost weekly — a cadence few survival games match.

Since March 26, 2026, Icarus is also available as a Console Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — but without crossplay with the PC version. Dedicated servers therefore remain PC-only: to play on a rented server with your crew, you need the Steam version. With weekly patches, the panel's automatic update mechanism really pays off here.
