Which Minecraft modpacks are worth it in 2026?
The short answer: All the Mods 10 is the go-to kitchen-sink pack of 2026, Prominence II: Hasturian Era is the best RPG pack, Cobblemon is the first pick for Pokémon fans — and RLCraft remains the most downloaded modpack of all time with over 29.5 million downloads. Below you’ll find the 10 best modpacks with loader, Minecraft version, character and download numbers, so you can pick the right pack for your server.
Note: New Minecraft versioning
Mojang changed its version numbering in 2026: instead of "1.22", the current version is now called Minecraft 26.1 (year.drop.hotfix scheme). So don't be surprised when newer packs list "MC 26.1.x" instead of "1.2x".

What is the best all-round modpack in 2026?
All the Mods 10 (ATM10) — NeoForge, Minecraft 1.21.1, 20.2 million downloads, last updated June 26, 2026. With around 500 mods it covers everything: tech, magic, exploration, storage. ATM10 is our hoster recommendation for kitchen-sink servers: actively maintained, huge community, stable on servers.
For RAM, plan on 6–10 GB for an ATM10 server. How much RAM modpacks need in general is covered in the RAM guide.
Is All the Mods 11 worth it yet?
Not for production servers. ATM11 (NeoForge, MC 26.1.2, by ATMTeam) released on July 14, 2026 as a “Super early alpha” and already has 613,000 downloads — that shows the hype, but an alpha pack means frequent breaking changes, potential world resets and an unstable mod lineup. For a server with friends whose progress matters to you, ATM11 is not server-ready yet. Stick with ATM10 for now and switch once ATM11 leaves alpha.
Which modpack for hardcore fans?
RLCraft — Forge, Minecraft 1.12.2, by Shivaxi. With over 29.5 million downloads it’s the most downloaded modpack on CurseForge. Version 2.9.3 has been stable since 2023 — the pack is “done”, and that’s exactly why it’s so popular: thirst, temperature, brutal mobs and deaths that hurt. Not for beginners, perfect for servers built around the fight to survive.
Which modpack for RPG servers?
Three strong candidates:
- Prominence II: Hasturian Era (Fabric, 1.20.1, 11.7M+ downloads, v3.9.27 from May 2026): RPG progression with a talent tree, class feel and quests — currently the most polished RPG pack.
- DawnCraft — Echoes of Legends (Forge, 1.18.2, by bstylia14, 10.2M+ downloads, version 2.0.16_hf from November 2025): action RPG with souls-like combat. The author recommends at least 6 GB RAM, ideally 8–12 GB — DawnCraft is one of the hungriest packs on this list.
- Vault Hunters 3rd Edition (Forge, 1.18.2, top 25 on CurseForge): dungeon runs (“Vaults”) as the core loop — great for servers with a competitive edge.
Which Pokémon modpack is better: Cobblemon or Pixelmon?
- Cobblemon Official [Fabric] (Fabric, 1.21.1, 3.6M downloads): the modern approach with over 700 Pokémon, styled natively for Minecraft. The authors list a RAM requirement of at least 2.5 GB, recommended 3 GB+ — making Cobblemon one of the most lightweight packs on this list.
- Pixelmon Modpack (Forge): the veteran, currently #2 in the CurseForge ranking. More systems and battle depth, with a more classic look.
In short: Cobblemon for modern MC versions and a low barrier to entry, Pixelmon for maximum Pokémon feature depth.
What about relaxed servers: Vanilla+ and Skyblock?
- Better MC [NEOFORGE] BMC5 (NeoForge, 1.21.1, 2.5M+ downloads, v51 from June 29, 2026): Vanilla+ — feels like Minecraft, just rounder. Official server packs are available, which makes installation much easier.
- SkyFactory 4 (Forge, 1.12.2, by Darkosto, 13.7M+ downloads, version 4.2.4): the Skyblock classic. No longer in development since 2021 (“evergreen”), but that’s exactly why it’s rock-solid and still hugely popular.

How much RAM does my modpack server need?
Rules of thumb from this list:
| Pack | RAM recommendation | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Cobblemon | min. 2.5 GB, recommended 3 GB+ | Author’s spec |
| ATM10 | 6–10 GB | Hoster recommendation |
| DawnCraft | min. 6 GB, recommended 8–12 GB | Author’s spec |
Older 1.12.2 packs (RLCraft, SkyFactory 4) are lighter than modern kitchen-sink packs — but with high player counts, they need headroom too.
Frequently asked questions
Which modpack is the most popular in 2026? By total downloads, RLCraft leads with over 29.5 million. Among actively developed packs, All the Mods 10 is number one with 20.2 million downloads.
Can I already set up an ATM11 server? Technically yes, recommended no: ATM11 has been in a “Super early alpha” since July 14, 2026. Fine for test servers; for a long-term server with friends, wait for a more stable release — until then, ATM10 is the better choice.
Forge, NeoForge or Fabric — do I need to care? Barely when playing, definitely when hosting: the server must run exactly the pack’s loader and version. If you install via a modpack marketplace, this is set up correctly for you. Background on server types is in the Minecraft server types guide.
What does “Minecraft 26.1” mean? That’s the new versioning since 2026: year.drop.hotfix instead of 1.x. ATM11 runs on MC 26.1.2, for example — the successor to what would have been called “1.22”.
