Feed The Beast released FTB Evolution 2 on 8 October at 16:00 UTC. The modpack runs on Minecraft 26.1.2 with NeoForge and is available in the FTB App. By launch evening it had already reached version 1.0.2, which the file list in FTB’s API puts at around 420 mods.
FTB calls it a kitchen sink pack with custom progression, rebuilt mods and “thousands of quests”. You start inside a revamped FTB Pyramid, high above a world generated with Tectonic and Terralith.
The headline addition is the ocean. Bioluminescent Groves, Hydrothermal Vents and the Abyssal Trench bring new creatures and resources, along with bacterial colonies for renewable materials, biological augments and an upgradeable multiplayer submarine.
The mod list FTB highlights:
- Industrial Contraptions, fully reworked, plus LTX Industries, Colossal Reactors and Oritech
- Ender IO, Applied Energistics 2 and Refined Storage for logistics and storage
- Mystical Agriculture and Productive Bees for resources
- Ars Magica Legacy, Occultism and Witchery for magic
- Stellaris for rockets, Moon trips, lunar dungeons and your own space station
- Puffish Skills and Iron’s Arms ‘n Artifice for skill trees and firearms
Everything leads back to the Pyramid. You build the FTB Skyline, feed it huge amounts of items, fluids and energy, and work towards the Heart of the Beast. Teams can race each other on the Challenge Boards, and finishing the Heart earns the Beast Trophy.
FTB lists 6 GB of RAM as the minimum for every version and recommends 8 GB. That is for the game on your own PC. A server with several players loading bases and machines at once will want more. Java 25 is required, since Minecraft 26.1 needs it.
To play with friends, the server has to run exactly the same pack version as every client. On RespawnHost you install FTB packs from the Marketplace in the panel. The installer pulls FTB’s official server files and sets up Java 25 itself. You find the pack through the CurseForge search, where FTB has already created the project page, although the files were still missing on launch night. The full walkthrough is in our wiki guide, Create an FTB Evolution 2 Server.
For the launch, the code FTBEVOLUTION takes 20 percent off prepaid packages and the first month of a subscription. It does not apply to pay-per-use and does not stack with term discounts.
Expect more updates over the first few days. When you update the server, every player has to update too.
