Re-Logic published its September State of the Game for Terraria on 24 September, and the main news is that Crossplay Phase One is getting its finishing touches. The studio expects the submission to be ready “in the near future” and says it will share the moment it happens. There is no date yet.
Two phases, and something in between
Re-Logic wants Phase Two to follow Phase One as soon as possible, and hints that there might be “a little something for everyone” between the two. It did not say what. The rest of the team is working through a handful of fixes left over from version 1.4.5.8.
From now on, the developer updates for PC, console and mobile share one section of the monthly report. Re-Logic’s reasoning is that console and mobile used to trail PC by months or years, and that is no longer the case. Anything that applies to only one platform will be called out. That section now runs under the heading “Terraria 1.4.6”, although the post does not spell out whether Crossplay ships under that version number.
Part of the team spent the month on the road, first at Gamescom and then at TapTap Game Fest 2026 in Shanghai. Re-Logic says it was the studio’s first formal fan event since 2011.
Modded Terraria stays on 1.4.4
The tModLoader team had less immediate news. Its regular monthly release for Terraria 1.4.4 goes live on 1 October and contains mainly bug fixes. The move to 1.4.5, along with other big changes the modding community wants, “will take many months still”, the team wrote.
Much of September went into updating the 1.4.5 preview branch with the changes from the 1.4.5.8 hotfix, which touched a lot of code. If you want to try the current state, you can opt into the “1.4.5-dev” beta branch on Steam and report bugs. The tModLoader Steam Workshop now holds more than 10,000 mods.
If you run a modded server, that means tModLoader on 1.4.4 for the foreseeable future. The tModLoader team posts the full list of bug fixes and API changes on Steam on the 1st of each month. Check it before updating if your mods rely on changed APIs. The report does not say yet whether Crossplay affects dedicated servers.
