SCUM's last Into the Wild update slips to October 5
Gamepires needed a few more days to fix the new fishing. The patch also brings back birds and turns TEC1 into a deathmatch arena.

The final update of SCUM’s Into the Wild season was meant to land before the end of September. Testing turned up problems with the new fishing changes, so Gamepires pushed it back. It now arrives on October 5.
Fishing gets a proper fight
Bigger fish now pull hard from side to side, and how fast you reel decides whether you tire them out or give them room to recover. Bait and gear matter more than before, and a reworked HUD shows line tension and bait condition while you’re hooked.
There are also three tiers of fishing quests, tracked in the Journal. They pay out Fame and cash, and some hand out better fishing gear. A new leaderboard settles who the island’s best angler actually is.
Birds that give you away
Seagulls and crows are back over the lakes and fields. Get too close or make noise and they scatter, which tells anyone nearby that someone is coming. Shoot one down and you can skin it for meat and feathers.
Materials from mutant animals can now be turned into clothing. The TEC1 Research Facility, built for the Apex Hunt finale, joins the event system as a Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch map.
One small fix many players will notice: clothes now stay looking clean until dirt or damage reaches 30%. Crawling around like a grub still ruins them fast.
What comes next
The Awareness and Archery progression boosts stay active through the October 5 update and end with the patch after it. Experience you’ve already earned stays.
That next update won’t start a new season. Gamepires calls it a standalone release, with tattoos returning (more than 40 free designs) and Photo Mode planned to be free for everyone.
The optional Specialist Angler DLC launches alongside the patch. Its bait and hooks can be claimed once per character per server from the Fisher Trader. If you run your own server, update it first thing on October 5, or players on the new client won’t be able to join.
