Icarus Week 255 adds a Rifle Turret and stops turrets shooting through walls
Twice the damage of the Pistol Turret. And walls now actually get in the way.

RocketWerkz released the Week 255 update for Icarus on 22 October, version 3.0.33.159137. The headline addition is the Rifle Turret, which sits at the very end of the Tier 4 tech tree next to the existing Pistol and Flamethrower Turrets. The studio teased it in last week’s patch notes.
The Rifle Turret fires 7.62mm rounds. According to RocketWerkz they hit twice as hard as the Pistol Turret’s and reach around 50 percent further. The trade-off is a narrower targeting angle, offset by better accuracy and damage inside it. The changelog also cuts the cooldown between shots from 4 to 3 seconds to keep its damage per second competitive, and drops Platinum Sheaths from the recipe.
Testing the new turret against drones exposed an older bug. The turrets’ targeting point sat about 64cm above the turret, so a low wall in front of one did not stop it from trying to shoot over it. The perception component is now attached to the muzzle, and the wall blocks line of sight as it should.
Other changes in the patch notes:
- All turrets now have a critical damage stat, with 200 percent on the Pistol Turret
- Mammoth head hit areas were offset to the right and have been fixed, along with a consistency pass on every creature
- “Automated Defense System: X” is now “Auto-Turret: X”, which makes the Field Guide easier to search
- Biome transitions on the Elysium map are smoother, mostly in caves and around ledges
- Coconut Curry can be crafted again after being locked by mistake last week
Dedicated server owners only get a few cosmetic fixes to the server browser this week. You still need to restart your server so it picks up the new build.
Next week RocketWerkz plans to improve search, showing matches across all tech tiers, and to add Field Guide buttons that jump straight to blueprints you can unlock.
