Enshrouded comes out of Early Access on Steam on 15 October 2026. Ahead of version 1.0, Keen Games laid out its combat changes in a Steam post on 23 September, and most of them are aimed squarely at mages.

The studio admits as much. When combat was reworked in the previous update, mages were left for later. Now they get nine new spells: Mana Drain, Entangle, Pillar of Flames, Blizzard, Ball Lightning and a brand new category of summons. You can place Fire, Ice and Shock Totems or raise a Hollow Skeleton. Two new skills, Advanced Necromancy and Totem Mastery, let you keep more of them around at once.

Existing spells gain extra versions so your favourite combination stays useful as you level. There are now 22 tier 7 spells, the Eternal versions that cast without spell ammo. Eternal spells can be upgraded like weapons and armour and roll their own perks, such as reduced mana cost. Mana costs and cast times have been rebalanced against damage, so the big area spells now take longer to wind up.

Wands get a heavy attack that pierces through enemies and interrupts weaker ones. Two new wand skills add an aerial attack and an evasion attack with wider, piercing projectiles. Soft and hard lock targeting now favours the centre of the screen and nearby enemies. You can also shoot explosive barrels with a wand now.

Archers were in better shape, Keen Games wrote, but they still get Puncture, Barrage and Survival Instinct, plus Eternal Fire, Shock and Bone arrows that can be upgraded with perks. New aim assist options for ranged combat are on by default with a controller and off with mouse and keyboard.

Level 50 and another skill tree reset

The new biome raises the player level cap to 50, with gear going up to level 55. Every enemy faction, including the Fell and the Scavengers, gets new variants, some of them heavy or elite.

Because skills have been added and moved around, your skill tree will be reset, which Keen Games hopes is the last time. Its advice is blunt: “Don’t step out of your base without investing your points.” Open the skill tree before you do anything else on your first login after the update.

The road to the date was cautious. In January, celebrating two years and five million players, the studio would only commit to autumn because it had been burned by a delay before. The 15 October date followed on 25 June. In late August the team said it was also working on performance for lower and mid-range PCs, and it showed the PS5 version to press at Gamescom.

None of the announcements so far mention dedicated servers, player counts or server settings for 1.0. Keen Games plans to publish the full list of changes in October, in a highlights video and the release changelog.
