American Truck Simulator 1.62 open beta marks 100 years of Route 66
New Tourist Boards across ten states, a cross-border Route 66 tour and an air freshener for the dedicated.

SCS Software opened the American Truck Simulator 1.62 open beta on 20 October. Most of the update builds on the Atlas feature from the Road Trip: Ford DLC, adding new Tourist Boards to explore. SCS is clear that this is not a stable public build, so bugs and crashes are on the table.
Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Washington and Louisiana each get one new Tourist Board, while Nebraska gets two. Every completed board earns a postcard.
Route 66 turns 100, so SCS is also adding a Route 66 Cross-Border Tourist Board. Its locations span Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. You can visit the stops in whichever states you own. The postcard only unlocks if you own every map expansion on the route and reach all of its locations. Finishing it also gives you a Route 66 air freshener for the cab.
The rest of the changelog:
- The Improved Material System now covers the interior of the all-new 2025 Volvo VNL
- The 2025 Volvo VNL joins AI traffic
- Goodyear Tires Pack paint jobs updated with the new logo and slightly adjusted colours
- The Escape radio station loses tracks that caused copyright trouble and gains 11 new songs
Escape is the only stream-safe station in the in-game radio, so the change matters mostly to anyone broadcasting their runs.
To join, right-click American Truck Simulator in your Steam library, open Properties, go to Game Versions & Betas and pick public_beta. SCS says you may need to restart Steam before the branch shows up. Bug reports go to the official forums, and mod authors can check the modding wiki for changes.
SCS says it is completely fine to wait for the final release instead. No date for the full 1.62 update has been given yet.
