The Fun Pimps released 7 Days to Die V3.3.0 as a stable build on 5 October. Its headline feature is a backpack system for anyone who keeps running out of room.

The inventory grid itself has changed first. The old 9x5 layout is gone, replaced by 8x6, which gives you 48 slots, three more than before. Four rows are free to use, while the bottom two count as encumbered.

Backpacks come in Small, Medium and Large sizes, each with six quality levels, and you can craft, loot or buy them. Put one in the new backpack slot and your inventory grows to as many as 96 slots in an 8x12 grid. Those extra slots are encumbered too, until the Pack Mule perk and Armor Pocket Mods remove the penalty.

Less time shuffling loot between a chest and your pockets is the point here.

The patch notes also list fixes that matter if you run a server. Vehicles on dedicated servers once again check for inventory contents before letting you pick them up. Setting drop on death to Equipment no longer duplicates gear when a player dies. A rare thread deadlock is fixed as well; it could occur when a multiblock straddling a chunk border was placed or removed while the save system processed reset chunks.

Respawn logic has been simplified, and several situations that used to leave players stuck now time out instead of soft locking. Prefab cell data now uses native memory, and ItemActionRanged.TryExecuteAction is virtual again to keep existing mods working.

The fixes only reach your players once the server itself is updated to 3.3.0 and restarted.

A few known issues remain on the developers’ list.

The patch notes also offer a workaround for one more bug. If a bow, crossbow or knuckle weapon floats in front of you after switching to first person, change the active toolbelt slot.
