Offworld released hotfix 10.6.1 for Squad on 7 October. It is the third hotfix for update 10.6. Unlike the earlier ones, it ships as both a client and a server update, so the version number moves to 10.6.1. The studio says it targets the “infamous track bug”, problems with the new UI and other issues that came with the release.

The change most players will notice concerns the ammo crate attached to a HAB. Until now, it survived when the HAB was destroyed, so players could keep re-arming from a ghost crate indefinitely. The crate is now destroyed along with the HAB, and Offworld has also moved it inside.

The track bug is fixed as well. Tracked vehicles could end up leaning roughly 45 degrees onto their side and stay that way even after being repaired. Other fixes from the patch notes:

Observe markers placed by players who are neither Squad Lead nor Fireteam Lead now have an 8 second cooldown and a 5 second lifetime. The “Give Up” button is now visible in the deployment menu, which, in Offworld’s words, lets you give up when you simply want to give up.

For anyone running a server, the most relevant line is a fix for an “EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ” server crash. Because the hotfix includes a server update, your dedicated server needs to be updated to 10.6.1 and restarted.

Offworld thanked players for their detailed bug reports and asks anyone still running into problems to keep posting in the bug report threads on its official Discord server.
