Coffee Stain Studios announced Satisfactory: Core Values Expansion on 29 September. The Steam store page calls it the first paid DLC for Satisfactory and a major expansion. The reveal followed The Big Break, a stream of game announcements Coffee Stain ran on YouTube that evening at 19:00 CEST.
Down, not out
Where the base game sprawls across the surface, Core Values heads below it. According to the store page, you will explore underground areas with new resources, flora and fauna, and build an underground factory network with new production lines and buildings. Along the way you learn more about the world of Satisfactory.
That is about all Coffee Stain has shared so far. The release date is listed as “to be announced”, and the DLC requires the base game. Store pages are already up on Steam and the Epic Games Store, while the console version is marked “coming soon”.
The announcement caps a busy month for the studio. September marked two years since Satisfactory hit 1.0, and Iron Gate, which Coffee Stain calls friends, released Valheim 1.0 in the same month.
A board game with a growing Space Elevator
The September news post had already teased something else. Mood Publishing is making Satisfactory: The Board Game, and its Gamefound campaign launches on 13 October. You can follow the campaign preview now to get notified.
Mood plans to use the Space Elevator as a mechanic in the board game, and it has turned that into a community challenge. For every 1,000 followers on the campaign preview, the Space Elevator in the board game grows by 1 cm until the campaign launches.
What it means for servers
Neither the announcement nor the store page mentions dedicated servers. It is not yet clear whether a server needs the DLC itself, or whether players with and without the expansion can share a world. The store page lists online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer, but gives no detail on how that works with the DLC. Until Coffee Stain says more, nothing changes for your server.
