A Rust server is a dedicated game server that runs the multiplayer survival game Rust. You and other players connect to this server to survive together in a world, build bases, and fight against each other. With your own server, you set the rules: player count, map size, wipe schedules, and mods like Oxide/uMod.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rust Servers

Installing Oxide is super easy with us. In your server dashboard, you will find a switch for Oxide/uMod under 'Mods' or 'Versions'. One click is enough, and the server automatically installs the necessary files at the next restart.

Connect to your server. Then open the console in our web interface and enter the command 'ownerid YOURSTEAM64_ID'. After that, you have to reconnect once (relog), and you have full admin rights.

You have full control over wipes. You can wipe your server manually at any time (Map and/or Blueprints) by deleting the corresponding files in the file manager or using our wipe tools. For the monthly Force Wipes from Facepunch, we offer updates as soon as they are available.

Yes! You can use any map. Simply upload the .map file via SFTP and enter the link or filename in your server configuration. We support maps from RustEdit and other sources.

Rust is very RAM intensive. For a small Vanilla server, we recommend at least 8 GB RAM. If you use many plugins or have a very large map (4000+), you should consider 12 GB or 16 GB RAM to ensure smooth performance.

Not automatically. In Rust, map data and player data (Blueprints) are stored separately. You can decide whether you want to wipe only the map (Map Wipe) or also the learned recipes of the players (Full Wipe / Blueprint Wipe).

In the startup settings of your server in our panel, you can easily enter the values for 'World Size' (e.g., 3000, 4000) and 'World Seed' (random number). After a restart, the new world is generated.

Yes, absolutely. Rust servers are often targets of attacks. Our permanent DDoS protection filters out harmful traffic so your server remains accessible to legitimate players even during an attack.

Yes, we provide you with all necessary RCON data (IP, Port, Password). You can connect with any common RCON tool like RustAdmin (Desktop or Web) to manage your server comfortably.

Rust receives monthly updates (every first Thursday). Our system automatically detects new updates. You only have to restart your server once to install the update.

For many servers, yes! If you have a private server for friends that doesn't need to run 24/7, you save massive costs. For public servers that should be accessible around the clock, you simply pay the monthly cap amount - so you have no risk.

After you have installed Oxide, you will find a folder 'oxide/plugins' in the file manager. There you simply upload the .cs files of your plugins. The server usually loads them even without a restart (Hotload).

Yes, our servers are fully compatible with the Rust+ Companion App. You just have to release the port in the config and pair the app with your server.

We have servers in Germany and in USA (Salt Lake City).

Yes, the easiest way is via a plugin like 'Whitelist' for Oxide. Alternatively, you can also configure Steam Group Whitelists.

Customers can set up manual or automatic backups for a minimal fee.

Yes, if you notice that your server needs more RAM (e.g., because the entity count has increased), you can upgrade to a higher package at any time. A restart is enough, and the new performance is available.

Yes, you have full access to the server.cfg and other configuration files. You can adjust values like Description, Header Image, URL, and much more there.

Rust is PvP by default. With plugins like 'TruePVE' or 'PVE Mode', you can easily transform the server into a PvE server where players cannot kill each other.

Our support is happy to help with basic questions. For specific errors in complex plugins, we can often give tips, but also recommend the community forums of the plugin developers.

Rust Console Edition (for PlayStation and Xbox) uses dedicated servers from Facepunch and D11 Studios. Private servers for consoles cannot currently be rented. Our servers are exclusively for the PC version of Rust. PC players and console players cannot play together on the same server (no cross-play).

Rust Server Hosting: Performance for your survival

In the brutal world of Rust, every second counts. A single lag can decide between life and death. At RespawnHost, we offer you Rust servers that are specially optimized for maximum performance and stability. Whether you are looking for a private server for you and your friends or want to build a huge community with hundreds of players - our high-end hardware ensures a smooth gaming experience without compromises.

Why rent a Rust server at RespawnHost?

Rust is known for being hardware hungry. Our servers run on state-of-the-art NVMe SSDs and high-clocked gaming CPUs to guarantee stable FPS even with high entity counts, huge bases, and intense PvP battles. We minimize rubberbanding and lags so your shots hit when it matters.

Rust Server Types: Vanilla, Modded or PvE?

Vanilla servers offer the original Rust experience without modifications. The loot is as Facepunch intended. These servers are suitable for players seeking the authentic survival struggle. Our vanilla servers run Rust in its purest form with official update schedules.

Modded servers extend gameplay through Oxide plugins. Popular choices include 2x or 3x gather rates, teleportation systems, starter kits, skin unlockers, and shop systems. You can configure your server to be casual-friendly or appeal to hardcore players. The uMod plugin library includes thousands of free extensions.

PvE servers use plugins like TruePVE to protect players from mutual damage. The focus is on base building, exploration, and combat against NPCs like scientists and Bradley. These servers are suitable for more relaxed gameplay without fear of raiders.

Technical Requirements for Rust Servers

Rust is one of the most resource-intensive multiplayer titles. A server with 100 players and a 4000 map can easily require 12-16 GB RAM. The entity count increases with every base built, every item placed, and every vehicle. Our server hardware is specifically dimensioned for these requirements.

NVMe SSDs are crucial for Rust server hosting. Map data, player inventories, and bases are constantly read and written. With our NVMe storage (up to 7000 MB/s), load times are minimal and server saves don't cause lag spikes. For public servers with many players, SSD speed is a must.

CPU performance directly affects the server tick rate. Rust servers benefit from high single-core clock speeds. Our AMD Ryzen™ processors deliver the computing power needed to maintain stable performance even during intense raid scenarios with explosions, helicopter events, and many simultaneous actions.

Features that Server Owners need

  • Oxide / uMod Ready: Install plugins for Kits, Teleportation, Loot, and more with one click
  • Map Control: Choose map size, seed, or upload Custom Maps from RustEdit
  • Wipe Manager: Schedule automatic Map and Blueprint Wipes according to your schedule
  • DDoS Protection: Our professional protection keeps your server online even during attacks
  • RCON Access: Manage your server comfortably with tools like RustAdmin or BattleMetrics
  • SFTP Access: Full control over all server files and configurations

Our intuitive Control Panel gives you the tools you need. Schedule automatic restarts, manage backups, and monitor resource usage in real-time. Our support team consists of experienced Rust admins who are always available to help you with questions about configuration, plugin installation, or performance optimization.

Fairness redefined: The Pay-Per-Use Principle

Rust servers often run 24/7, but not always. Maybe you want to use a training server only for clan wars or events? With our Pay-Per-Use model, you only pay for the time your server is really online. Turn it off when it is not needed, and your credit remains. This is hosting that adapts to your playstyle.

Full cost control thanks to prepaid balance. You top up your account and start immediately. No hidden subscriptions, no notice periods. You can see transparently at any time how much your server consumes per hour. So you can enjoy premium hosting without having to commit long-term.

Building a Rust Community

The success of a Rust server depends on the community. New servers need time to attract players. A clear concept helps: Decide on a server type (Vanilla, 2x, 10x), a wipe cycle (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly), and communicate the rules clearly via Discord or your website.

Active admins make the difference. Players stay on servers that are fairly moderated. Hackers and cheaters must be banned quickly. Tools like RustAdmin, BattleMetrics, and the Rust Server List Panel help you monitor your server and detect violations. Our RCON access gives you full control.

Wipe Cycles and Blueprint Management

Rust enforces monthly force wipes where all maps are reset. In between, you can set your own wipe times. Shorter cycles (weekly) keep the playing field balanced and attract players who like fresh starts. Longer cycles allow for larger building projects.

Blueprint wipes are optional. Some servers only wipe the map and keep blueprints. This speeds up re-entry for regulars. Other servers wipe both for a complete fresh start. With our panel, you control both independently.

Server Locations for Minimal Latency

In Rust, milliseconds decide between hit or miss. Our servers are located in Frankfurt (Germany) and Salt Lake City (USA). For European players, we recommend Frankfurt - most German players achieve pings under 30ms. For mixed EU/US communities, Salt Lake City offers a good compromise.
